Brindle Dog Theater is a company dedicated to creating and producing works that stir, transgress and transform. The soul of our endeavor is to make great theater accessible to everyone with a bold dedication to affordable prices and equitable pay. Each artist is equal here. All theater goers have a seat. If someone wants to see a show—- we’ll get you here, no questions asked. We aim to work with theater makers with shared values to make all shows affordable.
Borne of a shared lamentation of the lack of access to the work of peers and collaborators- Alex Hurt, Derek Wilson and Emma Duncan mused on a new model with an old classic that could change the paradigm. Derek got to work on a funny, moving and new adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull while collectively beginning the work of democratizing the theater going experience in earnest with the founding of Brindle Dog Theater.

Emma Duncan
can most notably be seen as Bette Munroe on the Netflix series THE SANDMAN. Her past television credits include THE MADISON, CHICAGO MED, F.B.I., DIETLAND, and CHICAGO JUSTICE, as well as the Jason Katims Showtime pilot MATING opposite Taran Killam and the TNT pilot CIVIL Upcoming: The Last Day directed by Rachel Rose. On stage, Emma has appeared off-Broadway in “Illyria”, written and directed by Richard Nelson at the Public Theater and “Cymbeline” at Shakespeare in the Park. Regionally she appeared in the world premiere of The Bridges of Madison County by Jason Robert Brown and originated the title role in Molly Smith Metzler’s The May Queen. She is a graduate of NYU's MFA acting program and a proud Princess Grace Award winner.
ALEX HURT
is a mainstay of the New York stage. Most recently, he appeared at Theatre for a New Audience in Simon Godwin’s The Wild Duck; prior to that, on Broadway as Alexander Litvinenko in Peter Morgan’s Patriots opposite Michael Stuhlbarg. His Off-Broadway credits include Scenes from a Marriage directed by Ivo van Hove, Hamish Linklater’s The Whirligig, Placebo directed by Daniel Aukin, Mike Bartlett’s Love, Love, Love directed by Michael Mayer, and Bess Wohl’s Continuity directed by Rachel Chavkin. His film and television work includes a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Digital Drama Series.
DEREK WILSON
is an actor and writer originally from the hills of Kentucky. Known mostly for his work in television as a frequent presence in projects with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures, he has appeared in The Boys, Gen V, The Studio, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Preacher, and most notably as Corey Wolfhart in the cult favorite sci-fi comedy series, Future Man. He can also be seen in DC’s Birds of Prey as well as several television series and independent films. Before finding his way into the world of television and film, he discovered a deep and life-saving love for classical theater, especially the works of Shakespeare. He has performed in or directed 23 of Shakespeare’s plays. Favorites include the title role in RICHARD III, Hal in HENRY IV PART 1, and Lennox, as well as Ethan Hawke’s cover for the title role in MACBETH at Lincoln Center Theater. Other favorite theater roles include Estragon in Beckett’s WAITING FOR GODOT and Mat Burke in Eugene O’Neill’s ANNA CHRISTIE, directed by David Auburn. Derek has an MFA from NYU’s Tisch Graduate Acting Program.
